SUV Hits Cable
Motorist Domenico Marini, 52, of Trumbull was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer southward on Hattertown Road about 4:15 pm June 1, when he lost control of the sport-utility vehicle and struck some wire guard cabling positioned along the southbound road shoulder, police said.
Marini was not injured. Police issued him an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.
Toyota Vs Ford
Motorist Lynn Izzoletta, 67, of Danbury, who was driving a 2002 Toyota Avalon northward on South Main Street, stopped and was waiting to turn left onto Country Club Road at about 5:20 pm June 1, police said.
At that time, a noncontact vehicle, which was southbound on South Main Street, came to a stop in the roadâs âleft turn onlyâ lane for Wasserman Way, police said.
The Toyota then began to turn left onto Country Club Road, but collided with a 2002 Ford F-350 pickup truck, which was traveling southward on South Main Street in the roadâs âstraight throughâ lane, police said. Motorist Joseph Santos, 29, of 47 Sugar Lane was driving the Ford.
There were no injuries. Police issued Izzoletta an infraction ticket for making an improper turn. Police gave Santos an infraction ticket for driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
Honda Vs Acura
Motorist Joan Huskins, 46, of 25 Osborn Hill Road, who was driving a 2002 Acura 3.2-T, turned right from the Exit 11 offramp of Interstate 84 and went onto eastbound Wasserman Way, but then had to stop due to heavy traffic, at about 5 pm June 2, police report.
Motorist Kathleen Liston, 20, of Danbury, who was driving a 1997 Honda Accord and was traveling behind the Acura, then struck the Acura from behind, police said. Huskins experienced minor neck pain, police said. Police issued Liston a written warning for following too closely.
Purse Found
On June 5, police received for safekeeping a small, black change purse, which was found in the parking lot at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street. The owner may claim the item by contacting the police departmentâs found-property officer Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at 426-5841.
Weapon Charge
Police said that while in the process of investigating a report of trespassing at Lower Paugussett State Forest in Sandy Hook on the night of June 4, they found a weapon within a vehicle driven by Michael Agius, 17, of 140 Hattertown Road. The vehicle was located at the end of the dead-end Forest View Drive, police said.
Police said they charged Agius with possession of a weapon in a vehicle. The specific weapon found was a metal, multibladed âChinese throwing star,â which is a martial arts weapon, police said. Agius is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on June 22 to answer the charge, police said.

Toyota Vs Subaru
Police report a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Plumtrees Road and Taunton Hill Road about 9:19 pm May 30.
Motorist Steven Parenti, 16, of Bethel, who was driving a 1991 Toyota 4-Runner eastward on Plumtrees Road, told police that he did not see a stop sign that is posted at that streetâs intersection with Taunton Hill Road, after which he collided with a 1998 Subaru Legacy, which was traveling on Taunton Hill Road. Robert Attanasio, 43, of 18 Palestine Road drove the Subaru.
There were no injuries in the crash. Police verbally warned Parenti for failure to obey a stop sign.
Sandy Hook Center
Motorist Katherine Hoolehan, 18, of 3 Farm Field Ridge Road, who was driving a 2003 Saturn Ion sedan westward on Washington Avenue at about 10:45 am June 3, was the first in line stopped at a red traffic signal in Sandy Hook Center, police report.
Motorist Seven Berko, 42, of 65 Charter Ridge Road, who was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 pickup truck, was stopped behind the Saturn, police said. Berkoâs foot then slipped off the brake pedal and the Ford moved forward and struck the rear end of the Saturn, police said.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Berko for following too closely.
Five Charges
Newtown police said they learned on the night of June 6 that Bethel police had stopped Michael C. Pellizzari, 29, of Woodbury, for whom Newtown police held an arrest warrant.
Newtown police then charged Pellizzari with failure to appear in court, driving an unregistered vehicle, speeding, failure to carry a driverâs license, and driving while under suspension. The charges stem from an incident earlier this year. Pellizzari posted $2,500 bail and was released for a June 22 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
DUI Charge
Police report that while he was driving a 1998 Honda CRV sport-utility vehicle southward on South Main Street, near Cedar Hill Road, late on the night of June 6, motorist Frank J. Allen, 61, of 42 Cedar Hill Road failed to dim his high-beam headlamps for oncoming traffic, so they stopped Allen to investigate.
Police said Allen failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence and failure to dim headlamps. After processing the case, police released Allen on $100 bail for a June 22 court appearance.
Four-Vehicle Crash
State police report a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 84 on the morning of June 3 involving a bus, sedan, minivan, and van.
While traveling westward on I-84, west of Exit 9, bus driver Stephen Crowley, 54, of Norwich, who was driving a 1995 MCI bus owned by the Greater Hartford Transit District, drove into the rear end of a 2002 Dodge Intrepid driven by Beth Kehoe, 47, of Waterbury, state police said.
That impact pushed the Dodge Intrepid into the rear end of 1995 Dodge Caravan minivan driven by Donna Cunningham, 46, of Waterbury, state police said.
That impact pushed the minivan into the rear end of a 1997 Ford van driven by Stephen Hall, 29, of North Windham, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police said Crowley was following too closely.
Highway Collision
State police report a two-vehicle collision on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, about 8:20 am June 1.
During a period of heavy congestion, motorist Danielle Hayes, 23, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 2000 Honda Accord coupe, struck the rear end of a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Joseph Bialek, 32, of Groton, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police said Hayes was following too closely.
Drug Charges
Police said they received a complaint concerning the presence a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of Trades Lane and Wasserman Way on the night of June 6, so they investigated.
Police said they charged Robert Hutchinson, 23, of Bethel with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and with one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. After posting $100 bail, police released Hutchinson for a June 22 court appearance.
Intersection Collision
At about 6:45 pm June 1, police responded to a report of an accident in the four-way intersection of Hattertown Road, Key Rock Road, and Poverty Hollow Road. Each of the four legs of the intersection is controlled by a stop sign.
The accident involved motorist Leesa Dunleavy, 40, of 50 Platts Hill Road, who was driving a 1998 Dodge Durango, and motorist Richard Davis, 40, of 6 Elm Drive, who was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Dunleavy a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.
Warrant
Police said on June 7 they executed an arrest warrant against Eric Gaucher, 26, of Norwalk, charging him with failure to maintain automotive insurance. Police said the charge stems from a motor vehicle accident that occurred several weeks ago. Police released Gaucher on a promise to appear in court on June 23.
Currituck DUI
Police report that late on the night of June 9, motorist Chris Bowes, 18, of 5 Evergreen Road was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Currituck Road, near Hedge Meadow Lane, in which the vehicle he was driving struck a curb and then hit several small rocks.
Police said that after failing field sobriety tests, they charged Bowes with driving under the influence and with making an improper turn. After processing the charges, police released Bowes on $50 bail for a June 23 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Truck Hits Rail Bridge
Brandon Wright, 30, of East Hartford was driving a box truck eastward on Botsford Hill Road at about 5:20 pm June 7 and attempted to drive beneath the low-clearance Housatonic Railroad bridge there, police said.
The box truck, which exceeded the low-bridge clearance, then struck the bridge, heavily damaging the truck, police said. The truck was towed away from the accident. Wright was not injured.
Police issued Wright an infraction ticket for failure to obey posted low-bridge clearance warnings.
