NEW CANAAN 6, HORNETS 0: The depth and experience of the New Canaan squad was too much for the Hornets to match in the first half of the game today. Offensively, Tim Lynch, Bobby Attanasio, Billy Magin  and Erich Dinnan  pressured the New Canaan goalie and  defense but without success. However, in the second half of the game the Hornets shut down the New Canaan offensive attack through the defensive persistence of Scott Regnery, Greg Hill, Colin Neugold, Matt Bartow, Matt Hill and Mike Jurasek.  Dave Lewis stood in goal and collected 11 saves for the Hornets.  

HORNETS 5, DANBURY 3: Billy Magin scored twice while Kyle Shevlin, Eric Palmer and Max Sackerson scored for the Hornets. Matt Hill had two assists on the day with Dave Lewis, Kevin Cuseo and Erich Dinnan also assisting. Alek Glasrud, Tim Lynch  and Joe Pisacreta lead the Hornets with four ground balls a piece. Defensively Michael Miller, Max Hoagland and Drew Taylor stood out for the Hornets. In goal, Joe Ferraro had eight saves.

CONNY Lacrosse Tournament

June 3-4

Thirty-one of Newtown’s finest young men traveled to the athletic fields of Yale University. The Hornets (5th and 6th grade boys) played in Junior Boy’s Division 7 Lacrosse finals.  Also competing in the division were teams from Ridgefield, Cheshire, Madison and Old Lyme.

In the opening round the Hornets with fell to Ridgefield, 7-5, as Ridgefield scored twice in the final 80 seconds. This early defeat placed the Hornets in the consolation round the following day, where they soundly defeated their opponent Cheshire, avenging an earlier season loss.

Against Ridgefield, Max Sackerson scored three times with Colin Neugold and Brett Berman adding one each for the Hornets. Assists went to Max Hoagland, George Schork, Bill Magin, Mike Jurasek and Greg Hill. Defensive standouts for the Hornets include Steve Orrico, Ethan Brietling and Tyler Lyon. Dave Lewis and Joe Ferraro shared the keeper duties and combined for 15 saves on the day.   

In the win over Cheshire, Max Sackerson and Erich Dinnan each scored twice with Drew Taylor and Kevin Cuseo adding one each.  Greg Hill had  two assists with Bobby Attanasio, Mike Conroy, Matt Hill and Cuseo also assisting.  Ian Ball, Drew Kuchta, and Alek Glasrud has an outstanding day prowling the midfield and preventing fast breaks. Tyler Lyon, Scott Regnery and Conroy played smothering defense. Joe Ferraro was the lone keeper on the day with 14 saves.
