John R. Verbanic, 69, beloved husband of M. Amanda (Comstock) Verbanic of Newtown, died June 5, at his home. He was born in East Norwalk, September 21, 1939, a son of Charlotte (Mandel) and John Verbanic.
Mr Verbanic was employed for 30 years by the Newtown Board of Education, retiring as head custodian of Newtown High School in 2005. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a longtime member of the Newtown Fish and Game Club. Mr Verbanic loved gardening and loved people. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
His family wishes to thank all who helped during his illness.
In addition to his wife, Mr Verbanic is survived by his children, John Verbanic of Sandy Hook, Charlotte Seaver and her husband, Donald, of Williamstown, Vt., Sharon Verbanic-Smith and her husband, Mike, of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Amanda Verbanic and Bill Taylor of Sandwich, N.H.; a sister, Mary Keefe of Pelzar, S.C.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a godson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held June 9 in the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown. Private Cremation followed.
