Pop Warner Camp

There will be a Newtown Football/Pop Warner camp Monday, July 21, through Friday, July 25, 9 am to 12 noon each day, at Hawley School. Contact Matt Wheeler at 270-1324 to sign up.

WCSU Basketball Camp

The women’s basketball program at Western Connecticut State University will be sponsoring its 2003 Girls’ Basketball Hoop Camp July 28 through August 1, 9 am to 3:30 pm each day. Namath Football Camp

The annual Joe Namath/John Dockery Instructional Football Camp will be held July 6-11 at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts. A host of current and former National Football League players and coaches will be on hand. Call 1-866-626-2841 or email joenamath@hotmail.com for further information.

Youth Track Program

The Danbury Area Track Club will be forming a youth program for children ages 9 to 14 from all neighboring towns. The program will include practices/workouts on Tuesdays and Thursdays in June and July (at 5:30 pm) at the new Danbury High School track facility. The group hopes to bring a team to the State Junior Olympic meet on Saturday, June 21, and compete in meets at Bethel, Middletown, and in the Nutmeg Games. Learn to Row

The New Haven Rowing Club will hold classes for men and women starting Saturday, June 14, and Monday, June 16. There will 12 on the water sessions (90 minutes each) for four weeks at the Boathouse on the Housatonic River. Cost is $160. Golf For MADD

MADD will hold a “Drive One Home For Madd” on Saturday, June 14, 10 am to 5 pm, at Golf Quest on 1 Sand Cut Road in Brookfield. There will be family fun activities and golf and baseball contests. There will be longest drive, iron accuracy, putting, chipping and miniature golf contests as well as home run and fastest pitch contests. Prizes will be awarded. There will also be food, a kids’ fun booth, and free safety information. MADD is seeking sponsorships, donated prizes, voluneteers and new members.Call Cathy at 1-860-350-6233 for further information.

City Center Grand Prix

The City Center Grand Prix – a race for miniature cars attained speeds of 25 miles an hour – will be held on June 8 on the streets of Danbury. The Grand Prix will be the focal point of a daylong festival on the Danbury green featuring food, kids games, racecar displays, and live music. WRKI-FM (I-95) will present the festival, which will benefit the American Red Cross of Western Connecticut.
