Lions Club Presents Trull Award To

Two Outstanding NHS Juniors

Two outstanding junior students at Newtown High School, Amanda Marsilio and Christopher Lyddy, were presented the prestigious Trull Award at a recent Newtown Lions Club meeting.

Named after the first Newtown Lions Club President, George Trull, who died while holding that office in 1949, the local club has annually given this award to outstanding juniors.

Newtown High School teachers and counselors pick the recipients based on scholarship, leadership, character, and school activities. As part of the award each recipient is presented with a plaque and a check.

Amanda has proved outstanding in the sports field. A varsity player on the basketball, softball, and volleyball teams, Amanda has obviously excelled in the sports world. She has done this while maintaining a 96.3 average, which is truly outstanding.

Christopher has been a leader in many aspects in many aspects of Newtown High School life. Currently he is co-chair of the Youth Advisory Board, the President of SADD, Students Against Drunk Driving, as well as being president of the Student Council. Some of his teachers have dubbed him as “Mr Involvement” or “Mr Newtown High.”
