Forgery/Larceny
Police report they charged Jessica Rose, 20, of 16 Lori Lynne Circle on a warrant June 14 at Danbury Superior Court. The arrest warrant lists 10 counts of third-degree forgery and one count of third-degree larceny.
Police said the case involves Roseâs alleged forgery of 10 personal checks, which were cashed on separate occasions in July 1999. Police said Rose was arraigned on the charges in court that day.
Shoplifting
Police said store security personnel at TJ Maxx in Sand Hill Plaza on South Main Street observed Verchelino M. Contreras, 26, of Danbury putting clothing into his pants and then leaving the store without paying for the merchandise about noon June 14.
Police transported Contreras to the police station and charged him with sixth-degree larceny. Police released him on a $500 bond for a June 28 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.
Knife Incident
Police said a large group of teenage youths were involved in an altercation late June 14 in the parking lot at Newtown Shopping Village on Queen Street.
Police said Peter Stewart, 17, of Danbury allegedly pulled a knife in the incident and an unidentified 16-year-old female received a minor finger cut.
Danbury police later located Stewart in Danbury. Newtown police transported Stewart to the Newtown police station where they charged him with reckless endangerment and threatening. Police released him on a promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court June 29.
Motorcycle Accident
Police said motorcyclist Erica Green, 17, of 22 Tunnel Road was driving a Yamaha motorcycle from a driveway at 18 Lake Road about 12:07 am June 8 when she lost control of the vehicle, crossed the road, hit a curb, and struck several trees. Richard Novia, 17, of 18 Lake Road was a passenger on the motorcycle, police said.
Green, who received a full body sprain and a right knee injury, was transported to Danbury Hospital by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, police said. Novia, who received a hand injury, was transported to that hospital by his father, police said.
Police said they took no enforcement action in the accident.
Branch Onto Car
Police said a 1999 Kia Sephia being driven southbound on Elm Drive about 9:15 pm June 11 by Laure Cantagrel, 20, of France was struck by a falling tree branch during a storm. Cantagrel was not injured and no enforcement action was taken, police said.
Rear End Collision
Police said motorist Andrea J. Morris, 23, of Ilion, N.Y., who was driving a 1989 Honda Accord on South Main Street near Holcomb Fuel, was stopped behind a line of stopped traffic about 4:15 pm June 14 when the Honda was hit from behind by a 1996 Ford box truck driven by Muhamed Dedic, 36, of Bridgeport. The box truck had two passengers in the front seat, police said.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Morris to Danbury Hospital to be checked out, police said. Police charged Dedic with following too closely and having an overcrowded front seat.
