Applications For State Troubadour Are Due By Sept. 18
HARTFORD â The Connecticut Commission on the Arts has announced that applications are being accepted for the position of Connecticut State Troubadour for a two-year term starting January 1, 2001. The honorary position of State Troubadour was established in 1991 by the legislature to encourage cultural literacy and to promote the State of Connecticut. Hugh Blumenfeld of Coventry currently serves as State Troubadour.
Candidates will be judged by a panel of arts professionals on musical and songwriting abilities, professional experience, and ability to work with diverse age and ethnic groups in a variety of settings. The commission encourages singer/songwriters whose work reflects the diverse cultural heritage of the state of Connecticut to apply.
Connecticut artists who wish to be consider for the position of Connecticut State Troubadour should contact Susan Docker at the Connecticut Commission on the Arts in Hartford at 860/566-4770 to request an application. Application forms may also be downloaded from the Commissionâs web site at www.ctarts.org/prtroubadour.htm.
Artists are required to provide a resume, three letters of recommendation and an audio or VHS video recording. The deadline for applications is September 18.
