Art Lovers’ Luncheons

WATERBURY — Stimulation for the mind and palate is on the menu this summer during the Mattatuck Museum’s “Art Lovers Lunch” series. Join other lovers of fine art for a fascinating discussion of an artwork from the museum’s collection, led by assistant curator Rachel Guest, then enjoy a culinary treat from the museum’s in-house Exhibition Café.

Art Lovers Lunches will be held every other Friday from noon to 1 pm through September 1.

Guests will be asked upon arrival to place their lunch order at the Café, then visit the upstairs art gallery for the discussion. Their lunch will be ready when they return to the café.

The “Art Lovers Lunch” summer schedule will surround the following works of art: July 7, Everett Shinn, “Singer”; July 21, Guy Wiggins, “The Blizzard at the Library”; August 4, Frederic Church, “Icebergs”; August 18, John Trumbull, “George Codwise” and “Anna Maria Codwise”; and September 1, Alexander Calder, “Mobile.”

Suggested donation for the discussion is $5; lunch will be an additional charge, the responsibility of each diner. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the museum at 203/753-0381, extension 15. The Mattatuck Museum is at 144 West Main Street in Waterbury.
