Pianist-Vocalist At East Hill Woods

SOUTHBURY — On Monday, June 26, at 7:15 pm, tenor and pianist Tom Brand will perform at East Hill Woods. Mr Brand’s program will include sentimental ballads and folk songs, arias and art songs by classical composers such as Bach, Handel and Schubert, traditional hymns and spirituals, and popular Broadway show tunes.

Mr Brand was born and raised in New Haven, where he began his musical career as a member of Trinity Boys Choir. He later attended American Boychoir School in Princeton, N.J., and The Taft School in Watertown. In 1996 he received a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in choral conducting from Yale University.

He is the founder and music director of The Elm City Girls Choir, a community-based performance and music education program that serves over 100 girls in greater New Haven. Mr Brand currently sings in a number of professional vocal ensembles, including CONCORA, Phoenix, and the Schola Cantorum of the Saint Gregory Society.

He is also organist and choirmaster of St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Wallingford and president and founder of Senior Songs, an organization that specializes in providing musical entertainment for senior citizens.
