Wrong-Way I-84 Motorist Causes Accident
State police report that motorist Alexander Villalobos, 22, of Wolcott was driving a 1994 Honda Civic westward on the eastbound side of Interstate 84, near Exit 10, about 1:26 am June 9.
At that time, motorist Andrea Nowicki, 21, of 53 Toddy Hill Road was driving a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am eastward on the eastbound side of the interstate, state police said.
The two vehicles approached each other in the right lane of eastbound I-84, state police said. The Honda then collided head-on with the Pontiac on the highwayâs right road shoulder, state police said.
Nowicki received neck and arm injuries in the crash and was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment, state police said.
On investigating, state police arrested Villalobos on charges of driving under the influence and driving the wrong way on a limited-access highway.
After he posted $1,000 bail, state police released Villalobos from custody for a June 27 court arraignment on the charges.
