134 Cats And Dogs Vaccinated

To the Editor:

Last Saturday we held our 19th annual Low Cost Rabies Clinic in Newtown. We vaccinated 134 cats and dogs. This clinic was made possible by two local veterinarians, Dr Brian Silverlieb of Mt Pleasant Hospital for Animals and his assistants Kindra Johnson and Darryl Silverlieb, and Dr Barbara Mangold of Newtown Animal Clinic and her assistant Leigh Kirmil — all of whom donated their time and service — my very special thanks to each of them.

I would also like to extend many thanks to the following volunteers from the Newtown Woman’s Club, who for the 12th year assisted at the clinic: Marilyn Alexander, Mary Antey, Norma Gray, Joan O’Neil, and Marion Thompson. Special thanks also go to Canine Advocates volunteers Virginia Jess, Jodi Bialik, and Liz Wilson-Moore who donated their time to help with the animal control. Susan Shpunt, Blithe Dotson, and Carol Mayhew from the town clerk’s office were also on hand and issued the new 2004 dog licenses.

Thanks again to all who helped to make this annual clinic a success.
