Crushing The Competition

Newtown’s U10 baseball team, the Roy’s Auto Service Orange Crush, recently won the spring championship by defeating the Connecticut Ear, Nose & Throat Golden Eagles 7-4.

The team was led by the terrific pitching of Greg Brissette, Graham Dowd, and Eugene Citrano, who combined for 10 strikeouts and issued only one walk in the finale. All 11 players got on base, with Zach Demiglio laying down two bunt singles, Jack Dutt working two walks, and Dan Grosso, CJ Herde, and Alex Hess all reaching on singles and scoring.

Ken Malin went 3-for-3, and Jack Bittman broke things open in the third with a bases-clearing triple. Jacob Steinebrey ended the game with a laser throw from first base to third to throw out the lead runner.
