Four Charged With Violations At Corner Parking Lot

Following incidents that occurred on June 10 at a lot on the corner of Wasserman Way and Oakview Road, which has been used as an informal parking lot by some Newtown High School students, police issued violations against four young people.

The incidents occurred on the last full day of classes at the nearby high school.

All four of the youths charged are under age 18, and thus their identities are shielded from public disclosure, police said.

Police said they initially responded to the corner lot about 1:19 pm following a complaint that some vehicles parked there had been vandalized, resulting in dispute due to the vandalism. Police, however, said it is unclear whether the vandalism to the vehicles occurred at that lot on that day.

Police also received calls concerning activities at that lot at 1:42 pm, 2:19 pm, and 2:55 pm.

Police charged one youth with threatening and with breach of peace. That youth was released on a written promise to appear June 28 in Danbury Youthful Offender Court.

Also, in connection with some pranks involving the use of water balloons at the corner lot, police issued infractions to three youths on charges of creating a public disturbance. Such violations bear fines which are payable by mail.

There were no injuries stemming from the incidents, police said.
