Glenn Francis Bowers

Beloved Father

And Grandfather

Glenn Francis “Bud” Bowers, 87, died June 9, at Mercy Hospital Hospice in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born July 14, 1922, in Iowa City, the son of Ida (Stagg) and George Bowers.

Six children and stepchildren, including his daughter, Gayle (Maret) Panzenbeck of Newtown, survive Mr Bowers, as do two grandsons; a sister; and a step-daughter-in-law. His wife, Peggy; his parents; a brother; and three stepsons preceded him in death.

Mr Bowers was inducted into the Army during World War II, served in the 28th Infantry, and was a survivor of the Battle of The Bulge.

He was in the construction field all his life as a union laborer.

He enjoyed long rides in the country, farm animals, and his pets. He was an avid sports fan, especially anything to do with baseball, football, and NASCAR. But most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Funeral services were June 12, in Iowa City. Burial took place at Fairview Cemetery in Rural Johnson County, Iowa.
