New England Bounce About Wins Softball Championship
New England Bounce About won the U10 Newtown Softball Championship with a win over Claim Services International this past week.
In the championship game, New England Bounce About defeated Claim Services International 4-2. For the winners, the run in playoffs were a classic case of the girls coming together at the right time. The team got their best hitting and pitching of the year in the three playoff games.
There was excellent defense by both teams in this back-and-forth game. Emily Bell led the way for CSI, knocking in both runs and playing some great defense at third base. Rylee Mulligan had two hits and scored both runs for CSI. Leah Hushion pitched a perfect 1-2-3 inning to keep the game close.
Claim Services International beat Wellbaskets.com 5-2 in a playoff matchup leading up to the championship game. For CSI, Abby Periera and Anna Harrison had big games with the bats as they both contributed with a few hits each. Sara Matte played an excellent all-around game with a key RBI early and some headâs up play in the outfield. Rylee Mulligan pitched three strong innings for the win. The win put CSI in the championship game. For Well Baskets, Abigal Clarke pitched the first three innings and Tegan Doherty pitched the final two innings. Wellbaskets finished up the year with a regular season record of 6-6 after the season started out with three straight losses.
