Occupation: I'm home with the kids. I love staying home with them. That's where I want to be. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology from Florida International University in Miami.
Occupation: Iâm home with the kids. I love staying home with them. Thatâs where I want to be. I have a bachelorâs degree in psychology from Florida International University in Miami.
How Long in Newtown: We have lived in Newtown for seven and a half years. We moved up here from Miami. I grew up in Lincoln, Neb., and my husband is from Peru. We want to stay here. Though we have moved around since weâve been married, both my husband and I lived in the same place while we were growing up. We want to raise our kids the same way.
Biggest Change Seen in Town: Thereâs the obvious, the growth, of course, and all the big houses going up. A real positive change is our library. It is such a nice, big, beautiful library.
Family: My husband, Ernesto, and I have been married for 15 years. We have four children, Brandon, 12, a seventh grader at the Middle School; Stefan, 9, a fourth grader at Head oâ Meadow; Carson, 6, a first grader at Head oâ Meadow; and Tessa, 18 months, who Iâm going to keep at home for a few years.
Pets: We have Barney, a cockapoo, and Martin the degu.
Hobbies: I like to garden. I also enjoy college football. I follow that passionately.
Favorite Books and Authors: I love to read. There are several authors I particularly like. Some books Iâve enjoyed are those by Willa Cather, The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, and Stones from the River by Ursula Hegi.
Favorite TV Show: I love Frasier and The Practice.Â
Organizations: I am a member of the Newtown United Methodist Church. I am a former member of the Board of Directors of Trinity Day School. I also volunteer at Head oâ Meadow.Â
Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: The opening of the new library. I loved that day when they had the ribbon cutting ceremony. Also, the annual book fair on Labor Day weekend. I also know Iâll look back someday and remember all the beautiful scenery here and the lovely country roads.Â
Favorite Vacation Spot: Since we both live some distance from our families, we tend to use our vacations to go see our families. We go to Punta Hermosa in Peru, which is south of Lima, and I always enjoy going back to Lincoln.
Personal Philosophy: Being kind and respectful to others, and accepting of their differences. I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt, and hope they will do the same with me.
