Step Forward For Your Town

In these tough times we need to pull together and depend on each other. The Democratic Town Committee is looking for a few more good people willing to give some of their time and talent to Newtown. We are looking for:

Town Clerk — Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm, paid position with benefits. This is a department with staff under you. There are occasional meetings at night and a few Saturday mornings. Must be detail-oriented, dependable, and personable. This office records our vital statistics, land records, does some election duties, dog licenses, and maintains the town website. Training will be available.

Board of Education — Meets first and third Tuesday of the month in the evening. There are more meetings during budget season. They also have subcommittee duties.

Legislative Council — Meets first and third Wednesday of the month in the evening. There are more meetings during budget season. There are subcommittee duties as well. The council is elected by district so your campaigning area is smaller.

We are hoping to find individuals able to think outside the box. Everyone has some special talent. If yours isn’t for one of these positions, please look into other ways to give back to our community.
