Joseph M. Caserta

Joseph M. Caserta, 79, of Shelton and Pembroke Pines, Fla., a retired production planner for Data Products of New England in Wallingford, died June 19 in Griffin Hospital, Derby.

He was the brother of Josephine Giannettino of Sandy Hook.

Born in Bridgeport on April 24, 1921, he was the son of the late James and Minnie (Mastrianni) Caserta, and was a Shelton resident for 36 years. Mr Caserta was a US Army Air Corps veteran in World War II, serving in the 8th Army as a tail gunner on a B-17, was wounded, and received the Purple Heart and many other medals. He was a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Margaret (Leko) Caserta; three sons, James T. Caserta of Shelton, Joseph M. Caserta and wife, Pamela of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Richard J. Caserta of Baltimore, Md.; two grandchildren, Joanna M. Caserta of Stratford, and Jessica M. Caserta of Mechanicsburg; another sister, Adeline Yorio of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John Caserta.

The funeral was held on June 22 in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, and in St Margaret Mary Church, Shelton. Interment was in Union Cemetery, Stratford.
