Pecks Lane Festival, Tag Sale To Benefit EverWonder Museum
Two businesses in the 31 Pecks Lane commercial complex are teaming up to help raise funds to sustain a permanent interactive children’s museum in the community. The EverWonder Children’s Museum, temporarily housed in the complex, will be the beneficiary of proceeds from the Pecks Lane Festival & Community Tag Sale.
The event is set for Saturday, July 19, from 9 am to 4 pm.
Co-organizer and museum neighbor LeReine Frampton of LeReine’s Cuisine, Renee Wilson of Total Performance Sports & Fitness, and Karen Smiley of the museum are still in the final planning stages regarding the family-friendly activities they hope to present.
Interested community members can reserve single- and double-car-length booth spaces if they are looking to off load unused or unneeded items from their basements, attics and garages. Select vendors are also welcome.
The organizers are still looking for children’s entertainers to keep younger visitors occupied in a central “play zone” that will be surrounded by the tag sale stations. They have already confirmed there will be a “therapy pony,” face painting, and a fire engine touch-a-truck.
Newtown Hook & Ladder will be providing food and refreshments, and the fitness center is planning a boot camp workout.
“Several other Newtown businesses have contacted us about having booths, or to host activities like a bounce house and dance demonstrations,” Ms Frampton said. “The museum will also be open throughout the festival.”
The fee for space is $30 for one parking spot area, and $50 for two. Reservation forms can be picked up at LeReine’s Cuisine, or downloaded from the museum’s website.
