Children’s Programs

Summer Reading: The Children’s Room is gearing up for summer reading 2000: “Blast Off With a Good Book.” The kickoff program on June 27 at 10:30 am will feature Newtown author Bruce Degen, a special appearance by Ms Frizzle, and music by Erik Bagger. Children can sign up any between June 27 and August 12. Mr Degen will be available for an author signing immediately following the program.

Middle School Madness: Students entering grades 6 through 9 can participate in our young adult summer reading program, Middle School Madness. No registration is necessary. Simply read books between June 27 and August 12 and submit an entry form for every 50 pages that you read. A list of donated prizes is available in the children’s department. The more you read the better your chances of winning. The drawing will take place after August 12.

Children’s paperback book sale: The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library will conduct a children’s paperback book sale on Tuesday, June 2, from 10 am to 1 pm on the first floor of the library. All books will be priced 50 cents and under. Plan to stock up for beach and vacation reading.

Literacy Bags: Check out the new Literacy bags for grades K-3 on a variety of subjects, including art, music, dance, food, dogs, folktales, libraries, camping, and many more. Each bag is filled with books and activities for children to share with their parents.

Exhibit: Don’t miss the fire truck exhibit that is currently on display in the children’s room. R.D. Nosal is sharing his collection.
