With Assault
Police said they charged three local youths with assault in connection with an incident about 7 pm June 20 at St Rose Cemetery on Black Cherry Lane in Sandy Hook.
Police add they are looking for a fourth person in the case.
A group of four youths encountered an unidentified 15-year-old boy in the cemetery and one of the group confronted the boy about money which the boy allegedly owed him, becoming involved in an assault over the matter, police said.
Police charged William Theobald, 17, of 40 Buttonball Drive, Sandy Hook, with second-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor. Police said Theobald allegedly used a bottle in the assault, resulting in the second-degree assault charge.
Police said they charged Stephen Karolczuk, 18, of 17 Main Street with third-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor.
Also, police charged Robert A. Girard, 17, of 54 Main Street with third-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor. Police also charged Girard with third-degree criminal mischief in connection with property damage to a holding cell at the police station.
Police said the victim, who received minor injuries in the assault, went to the police station to report the incident, after which police charged the three youths.
Police said they held Theobald and Girard on bond at the police station for arraignments June 21 in Danbury Superior Court. Police said Karolczuk was released on bond for a July 6 court appearance.
Police said their investigation into the case continues.
