Free Weekday Concert In Monroe

MONROE — Les Julian, a professional singer, songwriter, guitarist and family entertainer, will perform a family concert sponsored by Monroe Public Library on Tuesday, July 11, at 2 pm, at the gazebo on the town green. The concert is “Jump Right Over The Moooon.”

For his all-original-song recording of the same name, Mr Julian won a coveted Parent’s Choice Gold Award and the American Library Association Notable Recording for Children Award.

Also featured will be songs from Mr Julian’s new CD, Living In The Land Of Ooh, Aah, which was awarded a Parent’s Choice Recommendation for 1998.

Mr Julian’s performances and songs, which include jazz, rock and Latin stylings, have been widely praised. With the goal of emphasizing the imagination and creating community through music, Les Julian brings his songs to life with his rubbery storyteller’s face, three-octave voice, guitar pyrotechnics, chameleon wit and joy to audiences in elementary schools, libraries and concert series throughout the U.S.

The program is free of charge and meets accessibility requirements for the disabled. In the event of rain, the program will be held in Monroe Town Council Chambers at Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road. For more information, call the library at 452-5459.
