Charles W. Tidd, Jr

Former Newtown Resident

A memorial Mass will be celebrated July 17, at 11:15 am, at St Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold, N.J., for Charles W. Tidd, Jr, a longtime former resident of Newtown. Mr Tidd, 71, died at Columbia University Medical Center, New York City, April 5, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born January 14, 1939, in Los Angeles, the son of Dr Charles W. Tidd and Martha Upchurch Tidd.

His beloved wife of 40 years, Paulette; their son, Charles W. Tidd III of Houston, and daughter, Dr Michele Pfannenstiel, her husband, Andrew, and their two children, of Freehold, N.J, survive him.

Mr Tidd worked at IBM for 32 years in San Francisco, Hawaii, New York City, Uruguay, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, New York, and Connecticut. After retiring in 1993, he founded Charles W. Tidd Associates, a visiting nurse information management consultancy organization. As a consultant, he traveled all over the country making presentations, and he and his wife, Paulette, helped home care agencies improve processes and perfect business skills.

He was an ardent Cardinal fan his whole life.

In 2007, the Tidds retired from that business and sold their home on Brookwood Drive, after 20 years in Newtown. He then focused on travel, jewelry making, and his two grandsons. He had a knack for making friends wherever he went.

“Charley,” as he was known to friends and family, donated his body to the Anatomy Department at Columbia University Medical School.

The family wishes to thank the many friends and family members who enjoyed life with Mr Tidd, and those who were extremely supportive during his illness.

Memorial donations may be made to the Danbury Music Centre, 256 Main Street, Danbury CT 06810.
