The Seasons Take The Stage

Jennifer Johnston watched the moves of her dancers carefully, often stepping in and calling for a smile or directing the Newtown Centre of Classical Ballet dancers to “hold that pose.”

As Artistic Director, she made last-minute adjustments to costumes, dance routines, and the choreographed steps as the girls moved through Verdi’s Four Seasons dressed as Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Accompanying the seasons were dancers costumed as Icicles and Roses who shared a stage at Reed Intermediate School during the weekend of June 18-19, when the studio presented two free performances during as its annual spring show.

As older girls peeked from behind curtains or watched from backstage while waiting for their own routines to start, younger girls scurried into the school and sat in a neat row.
