Vroom Service Now Delivers
More Than A Dozen Restaurants To Your Door
By John Voket
So you just got home from an unusually long and grueling day and you just canât imagine the thought of cooking. Or your team at work has just delivered on a tough project for a key client.
Or maybe you just have a hankering for one of those Pork Tornados from One Eyed Pig BBQ, a garlic-laden white clam pie from My Place, a shrimp chimichanga from Panchos and Gringos, or a spicy dish of Balti Murgh from Kolam Indian Restaurant â or even a little sample of each!
Then you simply need to make one phone call to Vroom Service Now, which recently began delivery service available in Newtown, and boasts a growing list of more than a dozen local and popular regional partnering food service establishments.
While Scott Leandra had worked the âother side of the counter,â as a server and bartender since he was in his teens, the Newtown resident found that aside from a handful of eateries that provided spotty delivery service, the only way folks were able to connect to most local establishments was by driving there themselves.
âIt occurred to me a while back that services in general were lacking in the area of Newtown, Danbury, Bethel, Brookfield, etc,â he told The Newtown Bee. âI had lived in other parts of the country where services of all types were available to spoil the public.â
Mr Leandra believes many people in town are either too busy, have businesses to run, or are too tied up with family commitments, so they often find there is just not enough time to do simple things like cook and serve a quality meal every night. Â
âThere are also some residents that have limited ability to leave their homes, especially in the evenings, and sometimes need the service for that,â he added. âI for one love the idea of having a variety of menu choices at my fingertips and the convenience of prompt home delivery right to my doorstep.âÂ
But until he launched Vroom Service Now earlier this year, the ability to connect local restaurants to customers via delivery was limited, or did not exist.Â
âI also knew that there were plenty of restaurants that would love to participate so that they could share their cuisine with many in the area that otherwise may not have the opportunity to sample or enjoy it,â Mr Leandra said. âPlus, many people are unemployed or simply in need of additional income, so I knew I could find plenty of drivers willing and able to help deliver this service with pleasure.â
Itâs simple to engage Vroom Service Now. To place an order visit www.VroomServiceNow.com or call the order in to 203-270-FOOD (203-270-3663). A delivery driver is dispatched to the restaurant of your choice and places your meal in a insulated thermal carrier and delivers it directly to you at your home, office or hotel room.
There is a $17 food minimum and delivery charges range from $3.50 to $3.75 depending on the restaurant. If ordering from more than one restaurant, $3.50 will be charged for each additional restaurant.
A gratuity for the delivery driver is customary, just as you would in the restaurant â they use their own vehicles and gas, and 15 percent gratuity is automatically added to orders $100 or more. Deliveries usually arrive within one hour from the time the order is placed, but some conditions such as weather, traffic and how busy the restaurant is could require more time.
While the customers and the restaurants can connect to enjoy their own mutual experience, Mr Leandra sees his business from a much larger perspective. His goal is to partner up with restaurants so that they can enjoy additional revenue while introducing themselves to customers of many other establishments through the companyâs easy to navigate website without increasing their overhead or staff and without the headaches that come with running another branch of their business.Â
âWe handle it all for them,â he said. âSo we provide service to many area residents and businesses, we help grow business for area restaurants, and provide much needed income for our customer service reps, drivers and dispatchers.â
John Tambascio, of My Place on Queen Street and Tambascioâs Italian Grill in Dodgingtown, said his restaurants always offered delivery service, but the appeal of becoming one of Vroom Service Nowâs charter partners was giving his valued customers even better service than was already offered. And he could do so while at the same time reducing the expense (and liability costs) of employing as many drivers.
âNow we can get our food to our customers all over town faster,â Mr Tambascio said. âIn a town this size, we wanted to provide the best delivery services possible.â
Sue Eskierski, who operates three regional Villarinaâs Pasta Shops including the one on South Main Street, is one of Vroom Service Nowâs newest partners, with delivery of her ready to cook or heat-up meals launching this week. While she said that she would personally deliver a $4 item to any of her beloved customers, the newfound partnership with Mr Leandra helps free her and her staff up to do what they do best.
âSince our expansions from our original Southbury location, to Newtown and now New Milford, we find our customer base coming from a larger geographical area,â Ms Eskierski said. âAnd while we offered delivery service, it occasionally crossed my mind that maybe somebody else could do it for us.â
She said when Mr Leandra approached her about becoming a partner with Vroom Service Now and she agreed, âScott went to work figuring out how to focus his marketing on exactly what we do.â
âIâm thrilled to be a part of it,â she said. âI hope it works out as well on his end as we feel it will work out on ours.â
The company was founded locally by Mr Leandra, his partner Pete Powers, and another good friend, George Nault, who unfortunately passed away just a few weeks after Vroom Service Now began its operations.
Vroom Service Now is locally owned and operated as an LLC in Sandy Hook. Delivery service is currently available Monday through Saturday between 4 and 9 pm, and Sunday from 4 to 8 pm.
