Louis A. Di Novi
Louis A. Di Novi, 85, husband of Myrtle (Swett) Bowman Di Novi of Elizabeth Circle, Sandy Hook, died June 24 in Harborside Health Care, Glen Hill, Danbury.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., November 1, 1914, son of the late Alfredo and Natalia (Pace) Di Novi. He was a resident of Newtown for 38 years.
Until his retirement in 1984 Mr Di Novi was manager of Export/Import ADM of Raybestos Manhattan in Trumbull. He was also the husband of the late Verlyn (Carey) Di Novi.
A veteran of World War II, he served as first lieutenant in the Chemical Division of the US Army. He was a member of the Joseph A. Treadwell Post #60, American Legion, Danbury. He was one of the founders of the Newtown Meals on Wheels Program.
He is survived, besides his wife, by two daughters, Anne Bowman Hooper and her husband, Douglas, of Binghamton, N.Y., and Barbara Bowman Pierce and her husband, Russell, of Laguna Beach, Calif. He is also survived by one sister, Antoinette Di Biase of Coram, N.Y.; one nephew, Robert Di Biase of Huntington, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Emily and Alison Hooper and Sawyer Pierce.
Funeral services were held June 28 from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and at St Rose Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in Newtown Village Cemetery.
