The Saputo Memorial Fund

To the Editor,

Recently, Mr Joe Saputo, Sr, passed away suddenly of a heart attack. For those of you who may not have known Joe, he was the gentleman who was typically on the top corner of the stands at virtually every Newtown Indian and Newtown Nighthawks girls and boys athletic event over the last seven or eight years. Joe was there to support his daughter Danielle, son Joe, and all of their friends in these athletic competitions. Joe was always there to lend a helping hand and offer his support – even if his children were not on the team. That’s the kind of guy Joe Saputo was, and that’s what our children saw and learned.

I would like to ask the community to now help. Joe had recently taken a new job and not yet qualified for insurance. Contributions to assist in Joe’s burial expenses are needed. Once these are taken care of, any additional funds will be split equally between Danielle and Joe, Jr. Newtown Savings Bank has graciously offered to accept the donations and forward them to the appropriate parties.
