Multiple Charges

Police report that while operating a radar speed unit on the northbound shoulder of Route 25 about 10:30 pm June 26, they observed a bottle being thrown from a red automobile driven by Cesar Hondares, 19, whose last known address is 37 Sugar Street.

Police said Hondares then attempted to elude police and in doing so passed another vehicle on the right. Police said they then stopped Hondares at the intersection of Route 25 and Meadow Brook Road. As they approached the car, it quickly drove away, eastbound on Botsford Hill Road, resulting in a police pursuit, according to police.

Hondares failed to negotiate a sharp left curve and hit an embankment, police said.

Police said they charged Hondares with littering, passing on the right, engaging in pursuit, operating a motor vehicle while under suspension, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of marker plates, failure to carry automotive insurance, and possession of alcohol by a minor.

Police said they held Hondares on bond for a June 27 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.

During the course of the event, an unidentified 18-year-old youth was assaulted, police said. The youth was treated for injuries at St Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport and released, police said.

Police said they charged Michael Hornak, 17, of Stratford with third-degree assault and simple trespassing. Police filed the same charges against an unidentified 15-year-old Bridgeport youth.

Also, police charged 10 other youths with simple trespassing. The youths are from Stratford, Shelton, Milford, and Westport, police said.

Main Street Crash

Police said a 1997 Saturn sedan, which was being driven northbound on Main Street by Kirsten Davies, 34, of 39 Pine Tree Hill Road about 9:30 pm June 27, stopped for a vehicle that had pulled out in front of it and was struck from behind by a northbound 1992 Honda Accord sedan driven by Douglas P. Riepe, 18, of Danbury. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Riepe for following too closely.
