NU Warns Of Power Use Problems
BERLIN (AP) âNortheast Utilities joined with other power companies Tuesday morning in calling for electricity conservation.
ISO New England, the Holyoke, Mass.-based power company that oversees and manages the regionâs power supply, issued a regional power watch at 7:15 am.
ISO urged residents and businesses to reduce electricity usage through the day at home and work because of anticipated high demand for electricity.,
NU spokesman Frank Poirot said the high heat and humidity might produce a very high demand for electricity by people trying to keep cool.
âIt sounds like weâre expecting a near record day, about the 22,000 megawatt level in New England,â Poirot said.
Temperatures moderated later in the week.
