The popular Rising Star Summer Basketball League will open its eighth season on Thursday, July 7, at 6 pm, at Treadwell Park. The clinic will be presented by John Quinn, coach of the Newtown High School boys’ basketball team.

Coach Quinn will get the players in to basketball shape with skill development, fundamentals, and basketball drills. The clinic will run for 90 minutes and all players are asked to bring a basketball. Rain date for the clinic is Friday, July 8.

After the clinic, Coach Quinn will talk to the players and their parents about the Rising Star Summer league. Schedules, league format, play, team selection, and so on will be presented to all. League play will begin the week of July 11 and will run through the summer.

All boys and girls in grades six through nine are encouraged to participate.

Teams will play twice a week … with girls and boys playing together! Each player will receive a Rising Star t-shirt and will be coached by NHS varsity players.

Registration forms are available at the Parks and Recreation office, or players can register at the clinic on July 7.
