Summer Program Openings

DERBY — The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection’s Kellogg Environmental Center will be offering its WILD Kids Summer Programs for children ages 12 to 15 who are interested in improving the environment and habitat for wildlife and learning lifelong nature skills.

This year, the program will focus on monitoring small mammal populations as well as researching wildlife habitat diversity, species diversity and species abundance. The goal of the WILD Kids program is to inspire the next generation of conservation leaders through hands-on environmental research experience.

The program aims to instill stewardship of the land and encourages children to become involved in community action.

The 2004 program dates are July 19–23, July 26–30 and August 2–6 from 8 am to 12 pm each day. Limited spaces are still available.

Registration is $40. For more information, or to register, contact the Kellogg Center at 203-734-2513 between 9 am and 4:30 pm Tuesday–Saturday.
