Longtime Sandy Hook Resident
Anna M. McMahon, 93, of Sandy Hook, died July 5 at her home. Mrs McMahon was the wife of the late John R. McMahon. She was born in New Castle, N.H., on October 16, 1914, a daughter of Steve and Jessie (Meloon) Wargo.
Mrs McMahon was a resident of Sandy Hook for 78 years and was a communicant of St Rose of Lima Church.
She is survived by a son, Brian McMahon of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Everett Wargo of Southbury; two sisters, Barbara Booker of Woodbury and Patricia Coman of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Robert J. and John McMahon, Jr; by two daughters, Patricia A. OâNeill and Kathleen J. Hartl; and by a grandson, Patrick OâNeill.
Funeral services were held July 9 from the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown, and in St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed in St Rose Cemetery.
