Marie K. Collins, 80, of Hampton, N.H., and formerly of Newtown, died Saturday, July 12 at Exeter Hospital.
She was born January 2, 1928, in Boston, the daughter of John and Ella (Olson) Farrell.
She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Holyoke, Mass., and was a 1949 graduate of Emmanuel College, Boston. Mrs Collins taught school in Walpole, Mass., for ten years.
Mrs Collins lived in Newtown for 27 years before moving to Hampton in 1996. She had also resided for a time in Ashland, Mass. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and was a member of the Emmanuel College Alumni Association.
She enjoyed her grandchildren immensely, played spirited bridge, and loved watching ice skating on television.
She shared 50 years of marriage with her husband, Joseph M. Collins of Hampton.
In addition to her husband, family members include three sons, Michael Collins of Columbia, Mo., Stephen Collins and his wife Carolyn of Chester, N.J., and Timothy Collins and his fiancé Wendy Edwards of Wendell, N.C.; her daughter, Kathryn Pothier and her husband David of Haverhill, Mass., seven grandchildren; her brother, John Farrell of Boston; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated July 16 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Burial followed in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of oneâs choice or to Rockingham VNA & Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter NH 03833. Arrangements were handled by Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory.
