Newtown Allies For Change (NAFC) will host a panel discussion concerning a 2014 Academy Award-nominated film.

The public is invited to join NAFC for the discussion on Wednesday, July 26, at 5 pm, in the Gathering Room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

The discussion will focus on Selma, which chronicles Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s campaign to secure equal voting rights via an epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Ala., in 1965.

The film featured David Oyelowo as Dr King, along with Oprah Winfrey, Tom Wilkinson, and Carmen Ejogo among its cast. The historical drama has a running time of 2 hours, 8 minutes, and is rated PG-13.

NAFC recommends viewing the film before attending the discussion. Selma is currently available on Paramount+, Amazon Prime, and Hoopla, and on DVD, and can be borrowed free from the library’s loan collection.

Reservations are requested, and can be done by calling 203-426-4533 or online at chboothlibrary.org.
