Newtown Resident Recognized During Scatacook District’s

Dinner And Awards Ceremony

Resident Dave Barrett was honored during the Connecticut Yankee Council Boy Scouts of America Scatacook District’s Annual District Dinner on June 9 at St Thomas Episcopal Church in Bethel. A gathering of approximately 30 scouters attended the dinner and program.

Michael Carpenter, Scatacook’s district commissioner, served as master of ceremonies and recognized various scouters that made noteworthy contributions to the district during the past year.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the District Award of Merit. This year’s recipient was lifetime resident Dave Barrett for his noteworthy contributions to Scatacook District.

His dedicated work greatly contributed to the overall quality of the programs created to present the units and to the Scouts, according to a recent press release. Mr Barrett chaired the committee to coordinate the 2010 Klondike Derby for the district, and he is a member of the Scoutmaster team of Troop 370 that meets in Sandy Hook.

In addition to Newtown, the Scatacook District serves Scout Units in Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, Redding, Ridgefield, and Sherman.
