Rising Newtown High School senior Dani Villa learned about the possibility of interning for The Newtown Bee from fellow NHS student Anna Hodge.
âI thought it would be a really fun and a really great opportunity,â said Dani on Friday, July 16.
Dani has worked for the NHS newspaper, The Hawkeye, and will be the paperâs editor-in-chief next year. She has also been accepted to Yale Universityâs Yale Daily News Summer Program, and will attend the one-week course in August. Until then, Dani will be following local stories for The Bee.
Dani was also recently hired by Andreaâs Pastry Shop on Queen Street, and has worked for her mother, Mary Villa, in the past. Ms Villa is the owner of Newtown Curtains.
While Dani is not certain whether she will study history or journalism in college, her dream school to attend is Yale University. In ten years Dani said her dream job would be working for a history magazine, but she simply hopes she will be employed somewhere that allows her to follow her two loves.
With history, Dani loves that there is a story behind everything.
And with journalism, Dani said, âI love looking for a story, talking to people, and finding something where there is nothing. I just like writing and reporting. I think it is fun.â
