Emily Kalil Merck, 94, of Danbury, died July 14 at Danbury Hospital. Mrs Merck was born in Methuen, Mass., July 20, 1913, daughter of Nimey and Marsha (Rahal) Kalil.
She moved to Danbury as a child with her family where she lived the rest of her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Marsha Merck Christiano of Newtown and Jean Owen Bishop of Edgartown, Mass.; as well as grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Katherine Owen and Madeline Najam, and three brothers, Ernest Kalil, Emil Kalil, and Louis Kalil, predeceased her.
The Liturgy of the Resurrection was celebrated July 21 at St Anthonyâs Maronite Catholic Church, Danbury. Burial followed in St Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family would like to thank the staff at Danbury Health Care, most especially 4 West, for its wonderful care over the years, always treating Mrs Merck with respect and consideration. May God bless you. A special thanks to Donald T. Evans, MD, for his years of wonderful medical care and continued care and concern for Mrs Merck and her family.
