Rock Band Camp Has Room For Advanced Players

MONROE — Some kids play soccer or go to the beach for the summer, but for kids at Creative Music Center, the highlight of their summer is jamming at Kids Rock! Summer Rock Band Camp.

This year, two of the three Kids Rock! Summer Rock Band Camp sessions were filled to near capacity, but there are still a couple of spaces left for the advanced camp July 28 to August 1 from 1 to 4 pm.

The center’s guitar/bass teacher Mike Chervansky takes on the advanced camp, and will lead a public concert, after which all band members receive a recording of their performance. The bands learn such classics as Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water,” the Beatles’ “Revolution,” and “Should I Stay or Should I Go?” by The Clash.

Some groups also write an original song as part of the camp. The final concert, which is free and open to the public, takes place in Creative Music Center’s multipurpose room on Friday, July 28, at 6:30 with the junior camp, followed by the advanced camp at 8 pm.

The concerts are free and open to the public.

The store is at 701 Main Street, next to the restaurant 707 On Main. For further information see www.TheCreativeMusicCenter.com.
