Family Picnic, begins 11 am, VFW Post 308, 18 Tinkerfield Road, donation $15/person, $25/families (children ages 12 and under), plenty of food, music, fun for all ages, proceeds to benefit local veterans and their families, presented by VFW Men’s Auxiliary; 426-9316.

Skateboard Park Fundraising Festival, 11 am to 6 pm, Dickinson Park, Elm Drive, admission by donation, $20 competitors fee (also permission slip and registration forms required for all competitors age 18 and under), skateboard demos, competition, ongoing live music, vendors, food and more, fundraising event will benefit DonateToSkate.com’s efforts to fund a skate park in town; 364-9607.

Sandy Hook Village Concerts in the Park: MaryBeth Clymer, 7 pm, Sandy Hook Village Park, Glen Road at Church Hill Road, free performance by vocalist will feature popular songs of today and yesterday, bring seating, light refreshments available.

Tuesday, July 29

Sandy Hook Organic Farmers’ Market, 2 to 6 pm, behind St John’s Episcopal Church, Washington Avenue, local veggies and fruit, fresh baked goods, jams and handcrafted items, weekly activities for kids, also lectures and cooking demos, continues weekly to mid-October; 313-9908.
