Town Players of Newtown will continue its summer of laughs with a special production of Fully Committed by Becky Mode, who has created a show for those who love the hilarity of fast-paced farces.

Fully Committed follows a day in the life of Sam Peliczowski, an “in between gigs” actor who takes reservations at Manhattan’s hottest restaurant. Coercion, threats, bribes, histrionics — a cast of desperate callers will stop at nothing in their quest to land a prime reservation (or the right table).

Amidst the barrage, Sam has his own issues. His recently widowed dad wants him home for Christmas, but Sam is up for a choice part at Lincoln Center. While juggling scheming socialites, fickle celebrities, well-meaning family members and egomaniacal bosses, can he still manage to look out for his own interests?

Of a 2006 production, The Washington Post called the work “…a zippy play, a tour de farce for one wacky performer … Over 90 minutes, the audience watches this poor soul cope with his imperious chef and flamboyantly difficult co-workers while fending off a demanding clientele ranging from uptown VIPs … to naive Wisconsin doctors.”

The Newtown production is being directed by David Bass of Danbury and features Todd Santa Maria of Cheshire playing the wildly diverse characters.

Four performances scheduled, on Fridays and Saturdays, August 1-9, at The Little Theatre, 24 Orchard Hill Road.
