Robert J. McNiff, 69, of Danbury, died July 26, at Danbury Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of Mary Clifford McNiff for 47 years. Mr McNiff was born in Holyoke, Mass., December 27, 1940, the son of Cecelia and Joseph McNiff.
Besides his wife, he leaves behind his loving children, including Elizabeth Keenan and her husband, Michael, of Newtown. He was also the beloved âPapaâ to five grandchildren. His two brothers, one aunt, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews survive Mr McNiff.
Mr McNiff served his country from 1963 to 1968 as a staff sergeant in the Air National Guard and the reserve of the United States Air Force.
He was an accomplished business professional and entrepreneur. He recently purchased Mariano Brothers Specialty Moving. He was the local franchise owner and publisher of the Connecticut edition of Wedding Pages Magazine.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 29. Interment was in St Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family asks that donations be made to the Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital, c/o Dr Marc G. Rappaport, 24 Hospital Avenue Danbury CT 06810-6099, in honor of Robert J. McNiff.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Green Funeral Home in Danbury.
