I would just like to share my experience with your readers about State Representative Christopher Lyddy. Chris has been my guardian angel since May of 2009. When illness struck a member of my family (with no medical insurance) I did not know where or to whom I should turn. I picked up the phone and called several agencies and got no where. I decided to call state representatives. Rep Lyddy was the only one that called back, emailed me with different options. His compassionate way about him was just so wonderful. He assured me that he would help in any way possible (which he has done). Till this day he has not stopped; things have gotten a little better due to his help.
So this past Saturday, the hottest day of the year, I thought to myself, let me do something for him to thank him for his help and concern. I called his assistant and asked if I could go door to door to gain support from the voters in Newtown. I was welcomed with open arms.
So out I went! The temperature reached 105 degrees. I spent five hours knocking on doors, going up very, very long driveways in the Sandy Hook part of town. The response that I received from the voters was overwhelming. The town residents are so excited for the upcoming election and can not wait for Chris to be voted in once again.
I was so amazed at how the people were so willing to invite me into their homes for a glass of water, a cold washcloth for my sweltering face was even offered at one womanâs home that was just released that day from the hospital, another was an elderly man that offered to drive me around in his air-conditioned car.
Newtown should be so proud that Rep Lyddy cares so much about the citizens and will work even harder this coming term. So please call and volunteer as I did, it is so worthwhile. Although the heat was unbearable it was if you can even imagine fun to meet the wonderful voters and supporters that Chris has.
So please if you can spare an hour or two or even more...Chris would love to hear from you. You will not regret it at all.
Very truly yours,
Kate Berarducci
