Business: Rosewood Market & Deli

Address: 125 South Main Street

Owner: James Molina

What is your business background? “I went to school for chemistry and biochemistry. And I worked in that field for like 5-6 years, then I got into the mortgage business … from the mortgage business we kind of opened this up, and I used to work in food service, like we all have at some point … My team has done all this stuff for a very long time.”

What is your business’ focus? “We are a locally sourced market and deli … One of the great things about living in Connecticut is we’ve got a lot of little farms everywhere, but most people can’t make six stops before they go home to make dinner. So, we kind of tried to bring everybody together, we got 12 different farms that we work with to source produce … Right now, we’re kind of feeling out what Newtown wants. We’re gonna try and provide what everyone is looking for.”

What is something important to you that readers should know about your business? “I think that the biggest thing is … our model is a little bit different, because we’re locally sourced, some of the products change, some of the pricing on that changes depending on where we get it from. Most of the items that we have, unlike a lot of delis, we prepare the items, but we try not to pre-make everything.”
