Presidential Primary Vote Is March 5

Registered Republicans will go to the polls on Tuesday, March 5, to cast their

votes for a candidate to head the Republican ticket in the next presidential

election.

There will be nine candidates and one uncommitted slot on the ballot in

Connecticut's presidential preference primary. The primary will establish a

basis for the selection of Connecticut delegates who will attend the the

Republican National Convention.

Voters may vote for any one of the candidates or for the uncommitted slot. No

write-in candidates will be permitted.

The order of names on the ballot were determined in a lottery held by the

Office of the Secretary of State. The candidates are, in the order as they

will appear on the ballot: Patrick J. Buchanan, Morry Taylor, Phil Gramm,

Robert K. Dornan, Steve Forbes, Bob Dole, Lamar Alexander, Richard G. Lugar

and Alan Keyes.

The uncommitted slot will be at the top of the second column, adjacent to

Patrick J. Buchanan, who tops the first column.

Polls will be open from 6 am to 8 pm.

The polling places will be as follows:

District 1: Middle School gymnasium, Queen Street

District 2: Sandy Hook Firehouse, Riverside Road

District 3A: Head O'Meadow School, Boggs Hill Road

District 3B: Middle Gate School, Cold Spring Road
