Trooper William Farley

About 125 people attended a surprise retirement party by the Connecticut State

Police in honor of Trooper First Class William Farley of Newtown earlier this

year at the Fireside Inn.

Harry DeSanty was the emcee for the event, and Bob Gawe and Terry Dunn were

among the other speakers.

Trooper Farley received numerous mementos and awards. Lt Col Bill McGuire

presented him with the following awards: a citation for 21 years of

distinguished service from Gov John Rowland, a citation for 21 years of

service to the State of Connecticut, a citation from the General Assembly, and

an award from Col Kenneth Kirschner, commander of the state police.

Trooper Farley entered the state police academy in July 1974, and on the

completion of his training he went to Troop A, transferring in later years to

Troops B and L. He had been stationed at Troop G in Westport from 1984 until

his retirement.

In May 1993, Trooper Farley received the Honorable Service Award from the

Bridgeport Police Department, and in May of 1994, he recieved a citation for

meritorious service from the Connecticut State Police.

Since his retirement, Trooper Farley has devoted all his time to his
