Occupation: I am a wife and mother first. I am a registered nurse and the

coordinator for the Well Child Clinic for the Newtown and Bethel Visiting

Nurse Associations.

How Long in Newtown: I have lived in Newtown for 34 years. My parents moved

here when I was 4 years old.

Biggest Change Seen in Town: I think the biggest change is the transience of

families that move in and out and the lack of roots families have. Once there

were extended families in town, with grandparents and aunts and uncles nearby.

There was more of a sense of having roots when I was growing up here. I went

to kindergarten with the same class I graduated with from high school.

Family: My husband, Garry, and I have been married for 16 years. We have three

daughters, Bethany, 12, Mary Grace, 11, and Claire, 8.

Pets: We have a dog, Mica, and a cat, Tag.

Hobbies: I walk for exercise and am involved in Bible studies at Walnut Hill

Community Church. I watch a lot of soccer games and recently became very

interested in history, especially the colonial period.

Favorite Books and Authors: I like to read. I read the Bible for daily

direction and hope. My favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I

am currently reading The Light and the Glory by Peter Marshall, Jr, about

early American history. It's really good. This winter I read a real page

turner, Clinical Pharmacology.

Favorite TV show: My favorite TV show is Seventh Heaven.

Organizations: I am a member of Walnut Hill Community Church, where I taught

women's Bible study this winter. I am a Brownie leader and am the

corresponding secretary of the Head O' Meadow PTA. I also painted the field

signs for the soccer tournament.

Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: I've never missed a Labor Day parade. I also

remember teaching a lot of kids to swim at Dickinson Pool when I was a

lifeguard. I also served a lot of ice cream when I worked at the Ice Cream

Shop. Another vivid memory is when we celebrated the Bicentennial on July 4,

1976, and all the churches rang their bells at noon.

Favorite Vacation Spot: The Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts and Cape Cod.

I like the combination of mountains and seashore. I have been the camp nurse

at New England Keswick in the Berkshires for eight years. All my girls go as

campers, and if no one gets sick, it's a real vacation.

Personal Philosophy: My personal philosophy is to know God and to make Him

known.
