SNAPSHOT: SUSAN SHPUNT

Occupation: For ten years I have been the assistant town clerk in the best

office in the world, in the best town in the world.

Family: I married my high school sweetheart, James Shpunt. Marriage, I think,

is a combination of luck and hard work, and my husband and I have been lucky

to share 26 years and to have two wonderful children, Jamie and Jessica.

Pets: We have two cats, Pumpkin, a big orange grumpy boy, and Marvin, an inner

city kitty who has already used three of his nine lives.

Biggest Change in Town: I was born and raised in Newtown. The biggest change,

the construction of more buildings, is changing the character of our town.

More people, whom I enjoy meeting, are moving here.

Hobbies: My daughter tells me that I should teach a class on couponing and

rebating. People could save a great deal of money if they stockpiled and

bought on sale.

Also, I derive energy from working out, at least three or four times a week.

Books: I like to read because it keeps my mind going, and I take my books,

those written by John Grisham or Mary Higgins Clark, to the health club to

finish. I recently completed The Horse Whisperer, a wonderful work that I

wished would never end.

Movies: I enjoyed As Good As It Gets immensely. Jack Nicholson, despite the

rough edge to him, is one of the most charming actors in film today.

Personal Philosophy: Smile and think positively.
