Seven Youths Charged in Sleepy Hollow Incident
Police charged seven youths March 1 in connection with a beer drinking
incident at a new residential subdivision.
Police said they learned of a gathering of youths at about 5:30 pm at the
cul-de-sac of Sleepy Hollow Road, a new residential subdivision off Valley
Field Road in Sandy Hook.
On arriving at the scene, police found seven youths gathered around one of
three vehicles parked there.
Police said that as they approached the youths, some of the boys began
throwing beer bottles into adjacent woods.
An investigation showed that each of the three vehicles contained alcohol,
police said.
Police charged each of the seven youths with simple trespassing. The three
youths who were driving the vehicles carrying alcohol also were issued written
warnings listing possession of alcohol by a minor in a motor vehicle.
Charged with simple trespassing were: Anthony B. Cross, 17, 1 North Branch
Road; Matthew Schieffer, 17, 6 Ridge Road; Ryan Bunt, 16, Unit 4 at 55 Sugar
Street; Justin T. Gibney, 17, 183 Sugar Street; Gregory S. Darling, 17, 12
Brookwood Drive; Darrin S. Fodor, 17, 190 Brushy Hill Road; and Geoffrey P.
Vanscotter, 17, of 60 Butterfield Road, police said.
The seven are scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court to answer the
charges.
Also, issued written warnings on charges of possession of alcohol in a motor
vehicle by a minor were: Darling, Fodor, and Vanscotter, police said.
The state Department of Motor Vehicles will contact the three youths who
received the alcohol warnings to schedule administrative hearings on their
cases, police said.
