OBITS (Maloon; Orten; DeJoseph; Cavaliere; Finaldi; Anderson)

Frances L. Maloon

Frances Louise (Trick) Maloon, 71, of Westport and Stratford, and Columbus,

Ohio died July 3 in Marietta, Ga.

She was the mother of Beth (Maloon) TerHaar of Newtown.

Mrs Maloon also is survived by another daughter, Sharon (Maloon) Olson of

Roswell, Ga.; sons, Craig Maloon of Norwalk and Douglas Maloon of Belair, Md.;

and four grandsons.

Memorial services will be held at Greens Farms Congregational Church in

Westport August 7 at 11 am. Burial of the ashes will take place in Greenville,

Ohio.

Donations in her memory can be made to the American Cancer Society or American

Lung Association.

Arrangements were by Cremation Society of the South.

Claude C. Orten

Claude C. Orten, 63, husband of Shelby (King) Orten of 201 Riverside Road,

Sandy Hook, died July 3 in Danbury Hospital. He was the brother of Mary Hamitt

of Newtown.

He was born in Johnson City, Tenn. January 16, 1936, son of the late Alvin and

Lula (Fletcher) Orten. He was a resident of Sandy Hook for 43 years. He was

last employed as a custodian at Regional 14 School District, Woodbury. He was

a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Newtown.

In addition to his wife and sister, Mr Orten is survived by two daughters,

Shelby Papp of Waterbury and Sheila Nolder of Danbury; three brothers, Blain

Orten and Henry Orten, both of Johnson City, Tenn., and Thomas Orten of

Kentucky; two other sisters, Bonnie Bishop of Johnson City, Tenn. and Georgia

Hall of Waterbury; two grandchildren, Angela and Jessica Papp; two great

grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at Appalachian-Hartman Funeral Home, 800 East

Watooga Avenue, Johnson City, Tenn. on July 8. Burial was in Montavista Burial

Park, Johnson City, Tenn. A Memorial Service will be held at the Bible Baptist

Church, Newtown, at a later date.

The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, was in charge of

arrangements.

Contributions in his memory may be made to Bible Baptist Church, 35 Sugar

Street, Newtown, CT 06470.

Laurita DeJoseph

Mrs Laurita "Rita" (Therreo) DeJoseph, 68, of Stratford, a retired

telecommunications manager at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, West

Haven, died on July 2 in Fairfield.

She was the mother of Marylin DeJoseph of Newtown.

Born in Bridgeport, Mrs DeJoseph had lived in Stratford for the past 10 years,

and prior to that was a Long Beach, Calif. resident for 28 years.

Survivors include her husband, Andrew S. DeJoseph, Sr, of Stratford; five

children, Denise DeJoseph of California, Andrea Birdsall of Sacramento,

Calif., Janet Walker of Framingham, Mass., and Andrew S. DeJoseph, Jr, of

Shelton; three sisters, Mildred Matrenyski of Shelton, Alice Ford of

Bridgeport, and Rose McCarthy of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren, Samuel

Birdsall, Joseph Walker, Kym Venezia, Kenneth Knapp, Michael DeJoseph, Shannon

DeJoseph, and Kristal Vargas; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and

nephews.

Funeral services were held on July 7 in the Spear-Dennis & D'Arcy Funeral

Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford, and in St Mark Church, Stratford, with a

Mass of Christian Burial. Private interment took place at the convenience of

the family in Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.

Barbara Cavaliere

Barbara (Kassay) Cavaliere, 65, of Trumbull, a homemaker, died on June 28, at

St Vincent's Medical Center, after a courageous 18-year battle with

Parkinson's Disease.

She was the mother of Donna O'Conner of Newtown.

Born in Bridgeport, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Gulden)

Kassay. Mrs Cavaliere grew up in Fairfield, and was a Trumbull resident over

40 years.

She was a member of the Altar Committee at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Survivors, in addition to her daughter, include her husband, Alfonso "Jake"

Cavaliere; two other daughters, Laurie Bussell of Derby and Janet Hawkins of

West Simsbury; four brothers, Frank Kassay of Danbury, John Kassay of

Fairfield, Zoltan Kassay of Fairfield and Stephen Kassay of Long Beach, Calif;

three sisters, Betty Gondola of Hollis, N.H., Marge Balogh of Fairfield and

Helen Olah of Port Charlotte, Fla.; six grandchildren, Dylan and Mitchell

O'Connor of Newtown, David and Justin Bussell, and Kelsey and Braelynn

Hawkins; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a

brother, Louis Kassay.

Funeral services took place on Friday, July 2, at 10 am in Holy Cross Lutheran

Church, 5995 Main Street, Trumbull. Interment followed in Lawncroft Cemetery,

Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Holy

Cross Lutheran Church or the American Parkinson's Disease Association, 27

Allendale Drive, North Haven, CT 06473.

Calling hours were scheduled on July 1 from 4 to 8 pm at the Holy Cross

Lutheran Church.

Arrangements were by the Louis A. Abriola & Son Funeral Home, Bridgeport.

Richard F. Finaldi

Richard F. Finaldi, 42, husband of Mary Kim (Van Wagner) Finaldi, of 15 Elgin

Avenue, Bethel, died at his residence on July 1.

He was the brother of Marita Narel of Sandy Hook.

He was born in Danbury, March 7, 1957, son of Edmond T. and Rita (Ross)

Finaldi of Vero Beach, Fla., formerly of Ridgefield. He grew up in Ridgefield

and was a graduate of Ridgefield High School. He had been a Bethel resident

for the past several years and had owned and operated the Finaldi Construction

Company.

In addition to his wife, parents, and sister, he is survived by two daughters,

Michelle Finaldi and Rachel Finaldi, both of Ridgefield; a brother, Edmond T.

Finaldi, Jr, of Danbury; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and

cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Mary Church, Bethel, on July

6. Burial took place in St Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield.

The Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, was in charge of

arrangements.

Contributions may be made in his memory to Regional Hospice of Western CT, 30

West Street, Danbury, CT 06810.

Anne K. Anderson

Anne K. Anderson, 78, wife of Tore N. Anderson of 49 High Ridge Road,

Brookfield, died July 3, unexpectedly, in Danbury Hospital.

She was born in New York City April 20, 1921, daughter of the late Joseph and

Sophie (Zaprotsky) Keda. She was a graduate and valedictorian of her class of

1939 Huntington High School, Huntington, Long Island, N.Y.

A resident of Brookfield for 33 years, she was a member of Christ the King

Lutheran Church, Newtown. She also was church secretary for the past 30 years.

She is survived besides her husband by one son, Kenneth Anderson of Arlington,

Mass; three daughters, Joyce Anderson of London, England, Karen Anderson of

Norwalk, and Lois Welz of New York City; one brother, Michael Keda of

Huntington, Long Island, N.Y.; three sisters, Alice Miller, Helen Kozlowski

and Marie Johannssen, all of Greenlawn, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and several

nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held at Christ the King Lutheran Church on July 8, with

Rev Gregory Wismar officiating. Cremation was in Mountain Grove Crematory.

The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, was in charge of

arrangements.
