Mortimer Robinson

Mortimer W. Robinson, 75, husband of the late Catherine (Graham) Robinson of

83 Greenlawn Drive, Danbury, died March 10, in Danbury Hospital.

He was born in Danbury, June 15, 1923, son of the late Mortimer and Arita

(Bates) Robinson. He spent all his life in Danbury, with the exception of 15

years prior to 1958, when he lived in Newtown.

A carpenter by trade, he was last employed by Levine Automotive Parts as a

driver. He was a member of Marriage Encounter.

He is survived by four sons, William of Dublin, Tex., Daniel of Phoenix,

Ariz., Peter of Danbury, and James of Bethel; five daughters, Mary Hallanan of

Staten Island, N.Y., Kathleen Elliott and Ann King, both of Danbury, Carol

Smith of Emmett Idaho, and Joan Reynolds of Bethel; one sister, Katherine

Killian of Calif.; and 16 grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 13, at 10 am, at the Honan

Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment will be in St. Mary's

Cemetery, Mt Carmel, Conn. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, March

12, from 7 to 9 pm.

Mary E. Fiscella

Mary E. Fiscella, 78, wife of Henry A. Fiscella of 27 The Boulevard, Newtown,

died March 10 at her home. She was the mother of Robert A. Fiscella of

Newtown,

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., January 15, 1921, daughter of the late Alfred

and Caroline (Salvio) Giordano. She was a resident of Garden City, Long

Island, for 50 years, where she was a member of St Joseph's Church. She moved

to Newtown two years ago.

She is survived, besides her husband and son, by another son, Henry A.

Fiscella, Jr, of Fairfield; one brother, Thomas J. Giordano of Garden City,

Long Island; four grandchildren, Tara, John, Andrew and Darcy Fiscella of

Newtown.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 12, at 9:30 am, at the Honan

Funeral home, 58 Main Street, Newtown and at 10 am at St Rose Church for a

Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St Rose Cemetery.

Calling hours were scheduled for March 11, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Regional Hospice, 30 West Street,

Danbury, CT 06810.

Grace M. Barks

Grace (McDonnell) Barks, 74, of 23 Whisconier Village, Brookfield, wife of

Harold W. Barks and mother of Carolyn Dufner of Newtown, died unexpectedly at

her home March 8.

She was born in Pittston, Penn., on February 2, 1925, daughter of the late

Raymond and Elizabeth (McCanna) McDonnell. She graduated from St Joseph's

School of Nursing in Carbondale, Penn. and did graduate work at the Institute

of Living in Hartford.

Mrs Barks joined the Nurse's Corps of the US Army in 1950 and served in Korea.

She was discharged as captain in 1959. During her service in Korea she was the

recipient of many decorations.

Following her discharge, she worked in her profession at the V.A. Hospital and

Air Force Base Hospital in Charleston, S.C.

A resident of Brookfield for four years, she had previously lived in Hawaii

for 25 years. She was a member of the Korean Veterans Organization, Inc. Mrs

Barks was a member of the Brookfield Historical Society and the Brookfield

Library Association.

Mrs Barks is survived, besides her husband and daughter, by one brother, Rev

Cyril McDonnell of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and one sister, Rosemary Blank of

Alfreda, Ga. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Kevin and Emily Dufner of

Newtown.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Joseph's Church, Brookfield,

on March 11. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. Contribution in

her memory may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital, Springfield, MA 02704

or to a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements were by Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

Kiriakos Koloniaris

Kiriakos Koloniaris, 71, of Bridgeport, husband of Kostantina (Pinopoulos)

Koloniaris, died March 8, in St Vincent's Medical Center. He was the father of

George Koloniaris of Newtown.

Born in Greece, he was a resident of Bridgeport since 1966. Mr Koloniaris was

a retired machinist for Connecticut Fine Blanket Corporation where he worked

for over 15 years and had been the former warehouse manager for Crown Budget,

where he had worked for 15 years. He was a former member of the A.H.E.P.A. and

was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Greek Army.

Survivors, in addition to his wife and son, include another son, Gus

Koloniaris of Bridgeport; a daughter, Margarita Arpie of Stratford; six

grandchildren, Christina, Diana, Katie, Kiriakos, Gail and Brian; two sisters,

Giannoula Karoli of Trumbull and Elektra Assikelis of Ansonia; a special

niece, Vicky Boudreau; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on March 11 in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox

Church with the Rev Demetrios Recachinas officiating. Interment was in Gate of

Heaven Cemetery.

The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport, was in charge of

arrangements. Trisagion services were held March 10.

Pasquale Valente

Pasquale Valente, 78, a longtime resident of Stamford who moved to New Milford

three years ago, died March 4, at Yale New Haven Hospital. Death was caused by

cardio-pulmonary arrest.

He was the father of Lucia Grisko of Newtown.

Born in Lavello, Italy, province of Potenza, February 21, 1921, he was the son

of the late Donato and Caterina (Capotorta) Valente. He was a self-employed

custom tailor. He was the proprietor of Pat Valente Tailoring in Stamford for

13 years and most recently the co-owner of the 60 Minute Cleaners & Tailoring

on Bedford Street, Stamford, for 10 years prior to his retirement.

He was a poet in his own right, having poems published by the American Poet

Society. Mr Valente was a World War II veteran in the Italian Army and was a

prisoner of war during that time.

In addition to his daughter, he is survived by his wife, Giovina (Ranauro)

Valente of New Milford; another daughter, Catherine McCarthy of New Milford;

two sisters, Antonietta Valente and Sister Maria Donata, both of Italy; and

six grandchildren.

The funeral was held at St Benedict's RC Church, One St Benedict Circle,

Stamford, March 11, with a Mass of Christian Burial officiated by the Rev

Vincent J. Veich, pastor. Interment will take place in Italy.

The Gerald R. Bosak Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, was in charge

of arrangements.

Paul E. Nuelle

Paul Edward Nuelle, 44, of Stratford, and formerly of Stamford, died March 6,

at Bridgeport Hospital after a long illness, from pneumonia.

He was the brother of Mark T. Nuelle of Newtown.

Mr Nuelle, the son of Frank B. and Marie (LeStrange) Nuelle of Stamford, was

born on January 17, 1955 in Pontiac, Mich. He attended Stamford schools. He

was a Stamford resident, prior to moving to Stratford 17 years ago. He was

also a member of St Cecelia's Roman Catholic Church of Stamford.

In addition to his parents and brother, he is survived by two other brothers,

Frank J. Nuelle of Naugatuck and Philip K. Nuelle of Ridgefield; a sister,

Kathleen M. Nuelle of Greenwich; and three nephews and two nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial was co-celebrated on March 10 by Msgr Roger J.

Watts, pastor, and the Rev Gregory LeStrange, cousin of the deceased, of

Fayetteville, N.Y. Burial was in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Stamford.

The Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, was in charge

of arrangements.

Contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of one's choice.

Theresa Gruce

Theresa Gruce, 73, wife of Michael C. Gruce, and mother of James Gruce of

Newtown, died at the Connecticut Hospice on March 4.

Mrs Gruce was born in Fairfield, daughter of the late John and Teresa Taylor,

and was a resident of Trumbull most of her life before moving to Milford.

She was predeceased by her oldest son, Michael J. Gruce.

In addition to her husband and son, she is also survived by five other

children: Joan Gruce of Trumbull, Carol Bolin of Trumbull, David Gruce of

Bridgeport, John Gruce of Davidson, N.C., and William Gruce of Derby; 11

grandchildren: Geoffrey Gruce, Michael Gruce, Jennifer, Hillary, Hayley,

Gregory and Anthony Gruce, Daniel, Gregory and William Mazza, and Jessica

Bolin; three great-grandchildren: Kayla, Anthony and Michael Gruce; and

several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held March 8 at St Theresa's Church, Main Street,

Trumbull. Interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery, 1530 Bronson Road, Fairfield.

The Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, was in

charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Milford Police

Benevolent Association through the funeral director.

Janet W. Graves

Janet W. Graves, 63, wife of Robert Graves of 8 Pond Brook Road, Newtown, died

at her home on March 5.

She was the mother of Robert S. Graves of Newtown.

She was born in Plymouth, N.H., October 31, 1935, daughter of the late

Lawrence and Marian (Danforth) Hobart.

A resident of Newtown for 39 years, she had formerly lived in Sandy Hook. She

was a member of the Warren Methodist Church in New Hampshire.

Besides her husband and son, she is survived by another son, Paul C. Graves of

Naugatuck; two daughters, Debra J. DuBois of Redman, Wash., and Laurie Cameron

of Waterbury; three brothers, Richard Hobart of New Hampshire, Robert Hobart

of Kingston, N.Y., and William Hobart of Texas; three sisters, Linda Hunter of

Vero Beach, Fla., and Judy Perry and Carol Hobart, both of New Hampshire; and

five grandchildren, Jeremy Graves, Keri Graves, Crystal and Steven Cameron,

and Amber Krawczyk.

Funeral services were held March 10 at Warren Methodist Church, N.H. Interment

was in Warren Village Cemetery. Contributions in her name may be made to the

American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450.

Etta B. Tomlinson

Etta B. Tomlinson, 87, of 270 Lake Road, died March 7, at Waterbury Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Lester Robert Tomlinson.

Mrs Tomlinson was born December 9, 1911 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late

Harry and Emma (Twining) Bavier. She had lived in Bethlehem since 1947.

She was a former reporter for the Town Times and Newtown Bee newspapers.

She was very active in the Christ Episcopal Church, where she was church clerk

for 50 years. She was a member of the Bethlehem Grange for 50 years, and

served as its secretary for over 40 years. She was a charter member of the

Bethlehem Fair Association, and had served as secretary to the president. She

was a member of the Bethlehem Garden Club, a charter member of the Old

Bethlehem Historical Society, treasurer for the Watertown AARP, a former

member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, a member of the Audubon Society, and

was at one time active in the Waterbury Council Girl Scouts.

She is survived by a son, Charles Tomlinson of New Lebanon, N.Y.; a daughter,

Joyce Rogers of Southington; a step-daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Reignier of

Bethlehem; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Calling hours were scheduled for March 11, from 4 to 7 pm, at the Woodbury

Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, Main Street South, Route 6. The funeral will

be held on Friday, March 12, at 11 am, at the Christ Church, Main Street,

Bethlehem. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery in the spring.

Claudia H. Otto

Claudia H. Otto, 96, wife of the late Ernest Otto, formerly of Ta'Agan Point,

Danbury, died March 4, in Ashlar of Newtown. She was the mother of Dorothy

Wenblad of Newtown.

Mrs Otto was born in Passaic, N.J., on April 28, 1902, daughter of William

Hutchings and Claushia (Martin) Dunn. She was a longtime resident of the

Danbury area. She was member and past matron of the Eastern Star in Bethel.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by two brothers, Robert and

George Dunn, both of New Jersey; six grandchildren, including Robert Arbitell

of Danbury; and eight great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Wooster Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

Julia Howley

Julia Howley, 78, wife of Martin H. Howley, of 5 Laurel Road, Newtown, died

March 4 in Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was the mother of Marlene Spremullo of

Sandy Hook.

She was born in Newtown on February 1, 1921, daughter of Thomas and Mary

(Washicko) Danuszar. She was a lifelong resident of the Newtown area. Mrs

Howley was employed as a child care professional. She was a member of Holy

Trinity Orthodox Church.

Besides her husband and daughter, she is survived by two sons, Wayne Howley of

Shelton and Martin Howley of Danbury; three brothers, John Danuszar of

Danbury, Marc Danuszar of Westport, and Elliot Danuszar of Bethel; three

grandchildren, Jennifer Piccirillo and Jamie and Michael Howley; one

great-granddaughter, Chelsea Rose Piccirillo; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 17 Roberts Avenue,

Danbury. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel.

Roberts Avenue, Danbury, CT 06810.

The Panachida Service was held March 7 at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main

Street, Newtown.

Mary Pace

Mary Pace, 83, of Sandy Hook, died March 3 at the Bethel Health Care. She was

the mother of James Ottoshavett and Elena Ottoshavett of Sandy Hook and sister

of Elizabeth Ottoshavett of Newtown.

She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on April 29, 1915, daughter of Pasquale and

Stefanina (Ciancimino) Pace. She was a Newtown-area resident for the past 60

years, excluding 1990 to 1998 when she lived in Jacksonville, Fla. A lifelong

seamstress, she learned her craft in the designer fashion houses in New York

City.

In addition to her children and sister, she is survived by one brother, James

Pace of Danbury, and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held on March 6 at the Valley Presbyterian Church, 21

West Whisconier Road, Brookfield, with the Rev Royal Garren officiating.

Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.

Contributions in her memory may be made to DATAHR Development Fund, 135 Old

State Road, Brookfield, CT 06804.
